  • For granite, marble and other stone types, acid rain and biological growth, such as moss, mold and lichens, accelerate decay of the stone. By having your markers professionally cleaned, treated and maintained, you maximize the life and beauty of the marker. 

  • Pressure-washing is one of the many harmful ways to treat a gravestone. Pressure washing damages even the most durable of stone types, compromising the seal on granite, stripping the paint from the lettering and damaging the etching and carving.

  • Yes to both! AM Legacy Services uses products and methods that are safe for the environment and safe for the marker. We go as far as not using plastic brushes or scrapers for cleaning. While they’re safe for markers, they introduce microplastics into the environment.

  • Pricing varies by treatment needed and distance to the marker. If you send us a recent picture of the marker. along with approximate dimensions (length, width and height) and location, we can get you a quote for your consideration.

  • Depending on the marker type and condition, a couple of weeks to several months. The effects of bronze marker renewal is immediate once treated - within 2 weeks.

    Stone depends on the condition. Those with little to no biological growth look great within 2-4 weeks. Those with moderate to heavy biological growth will look 40-60% better within four weeks, but may require several months for all of the biological growth to disappear.

  • It’s important to note that we never guarantee “like new”.

    For bronze, it will be clean and protected from the elements. If for oxidated bronze you choose renewal, it will restore some (not all) of the original look, and it will be protected from oxidation for a year. See pictures in the before and after.

    For stone, most or all of the biological growth will be eradicated within a few weeks to three months, with the stone reaching 80-90% of its ideal state. In extreme cases, it could take nine months or more to fully eradicate difficult bio growth like sooty mold.

  • For all stone types, every 18 months to 3 years in northeast Georgia. The amount of shade a gravestone gets and the moisture in the air are the main factors determining this range of time.
